A Conference of Help and Hope for Parents of All Ages
We state our opinions, but we live our values. With that in mind, what does your family really value? Time? Trust? Relationships? Christ? Most parenting styles and schedules fail to reflect these values. In this session, parents will learn how to:
- Define their values
- Communicate those values to their children
- Develop an intentional strategy for living out those values on a daily basis
- Set long-term goals to guide ongoing actions
Almost everyone who works with students agree that our society is suffering from a crisis of respect. Much of that lack of respect stems from a lack of discipline in the home. It seems like the advice from the "experts" changes every decade on how to best discipline children. How do you know whom to trust? How about the One who created your children? In this frank discussion, Jeff and Debby will take parents through the Scriptures to point out Biblical guidelines so parents can make the decision that is right for their child. Once parents feel more secure in their knowledge, they must then be willing to be consistent in following through in what they know. To help them take action, this session also provides some very realistic, useful ideas on discipline in various age stages.
How many times do parents say those very words in exasperated attempts to get through to their children? The problem is, kids want attention from their parents even more, but they don't know how to ask. The wise parents know how to pay attention to their children. However, too many headlines show many children are the casualties of the over-committed lives of their parents. It's vitally important for parents to learn how to:
- Pay attention to what their children aren't saying
- Identify the key "influencers" in their kid's lives
- Adapt their attention as their children grow
- Use what they learn from paying attention to the kids to encourage them as they grow
If our kids don't see a genuine life of love, patience, and Christ-likeness from us, where else will they see it up close and personal? Like it or not, our future grandkids will be parented in much the same way we parent our children. Want your grandkids to be raised in a home full of blessings instead of baggage? This session will not only lead you in making a commitment to your children's future, but equip you to be able to live up to the promises you make.
This is obviously a much-needed conference for any church wanting to be intentional in discipling parents. Just as the other conferences Jeff and Debby McElroy lead, it includes all the dynamics of their fresh, engaging approach to teaching.
